Brooke Hemken of Staunton is the first place winner for the 4th grade category in the 2022 Healthy Heart Contest. Brooke is a student of Mrs. Crouch at Zion Lutheran School. This year's theme was a Healthy Heart = A Happy Heart.
The month of February was National Heart Month. The Macoupin County Public Health Department invited the schools of the county to participate in a "Healthy Heart" contest to make students aware of heart disease. Heart disease is the nation's leading cause of death. It is important to let people, including children, know what they can do to keep their hearts healthy and strong.
