Week of 3/28 to 4/2
Monday the Dogs hosted the Hillsboro Hiltoppers. Cayden Silvester took the mound and threw 4.1 innings giving up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 3 walks and struck out 7. Cody Ury took over in the top of the fifth and threw 2.2 innings giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, 4 walks and struck out 5.
Bulldogs led 4-3 through 5 innings and gave up four costly errors giving up 5 unearned runs in the 6th and wound up losing 9-5 to a tough Hiltoppers team.
The dogs put up 8 hits in the contest. Sam Best and Luke Meyer both had two hits apiece. Matthew Sievers, Cole Sternickle, Dillon Pritchett and Adam Overby had 1 hit each.
After another tough loss Monday night, the Dogs decided to try and change up the lineup to see what they could do and make sure they came ready to play Tuesday night against Auburn.
Best started on the bump and pitched a very productive 5 innings. Giving up 5 hits, 4 unearned runs and striking out 6. Brady Gillen came in in the 6th and held Auburn to 3 hits, 1 earned run, walking 0 and striking out 1.
Dogs had a great day at the plate with 18 hits and 13 runs with two of the Bulldogs hitting home runs – Silvester with his 3rd of the year and Pritchett with his 1st of the year. Best, Pritchett and Luke DeWitt all had 3 hits on the night. Overby, Silvester and Victor Buehler each had 2 hits and Sternickle and Dain Volentine each had 1 hit. Bulldogs won the contest 13-5.
The dogs are praying the weather holds off this week and look forward to a great week of baseball.
