Pamela Carter, 72, of Staunton, Ill., died on Saturday, March 5, 2022, in Ocala, Fla. She was born Feb. 21, 1950, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Richard and Lorraine (McAuliffe) Hayes.
Pam was the owner of several local businesses and later worked as a cook on the barge lines in Paducah, Ky. She loved her family and doing diamond paintings.
She is survived by a son, Raymond (Kathryn) Carter of San Diego, Calif .; two grandchildren, Nikolas and Ashleigh; three great-grandchildren; sister, Sheila Hayes (Rusty Davis) of Bunker Hill; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jessica Hayes; a granddaughter, McKennah Carter; and three brothers, Richard, Leo, and William Hayes.
Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 2, at Worden City Cemetery in Worden. A public Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 2, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. at the Staunton VFW Hall in Staunton.
