Robert W. "Bob" Johnessee, 77, of New Douglas, Ill., died on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at his residence. He was born on Feb. 10, 1945, in Granite City, the son of the late Delbert N. and Eva N. (Koglin) Johnessee. He married Nancy S. Parrill on June 24, 1963, in Madison County.
Bob worked as a mechanic all of his adult life and was employed for 30 years with Mick's Garage in Mitchell.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy Johnessee of New Douglas; children, Herk Johnessee, his partner Jeff Krohn of Aiken, S.C., Mike Johnessee of New Douglas, Dana Johnessee of New Douglas, Kristy Johnessee of Staunton, and Jason Johnessee of Carlyle; grandchildren, Justin Mortenson of Fairview Heights, Scarlett Johnesee (fiance Marky Kitterman) of Roxana, Ashlyn (Andrew) Bray of Highland, Tanner Johnessee of Alhambra, Dylan Dragoy of Highland, and Wyatt Johnessee of Alhambra; great-grandchild, Mylo Samuel-Wayne Kitterman of Roxana; brothers, Ernie (Pat) Johnessee of Edwardsville, Larry Johnessee of Granite City; sisters, Linda Skinner of Washington, Mo., and Pauline Exline of Clever, Mo. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Johnessee and his wife Leona; brother-in-law, Charlie Exline; and sister-in-law, Carla Johnessee.
It was Bob's wishes and that of his wife and family for his body to be cremated.
