Jones

George William Jones, 78, of Staunton, Ill., died on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, in Litchfield. He was born on June 18, 1943, in Moro, a son of the late Clarence and Mabel (Phillips) Jones. His first marriage was to Sandy Brown. They later divorced. He then married Genevieve Boston, and she preceded him in death.

He attended Worden High School and graduated in 1961. George was a member of the United States Army, Specialist 4th Class, from July 1961 to July 1964. George enjoyed his family and friends, fishing and race car events. He was employed as a machinist at Olin Corporation in East Alton for 37 years and was a member of Meadowbrook 1st Southern Baptist Church. He was a trustee there.

George is survived by his sons: Darren (Deanna) Jones of Litchfield and Ronald (Roxana) Jones of Bethalto; a step-daughter, Tammy File of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Kenneth (Janice) Jones of Staunton, Donald (Suzanne) Jones of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny, and his parents.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Meadowbrook 1st Southern Baptist Church in Moro.
