Schehl

Howard "Howie" Lee Schehl, 63, of Mt. Olive, Ill., died at his residence on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022. Howard was born on March 5, 1958, in Granite City, a son of the late Andrew Sr. and Mary Ellen (Renzler) Schehl.

He attended school in Granite City and in Mt. Olive. He was employed as a truck driver. Howard enjoyed playing Xbox and watching football, science fiction and Marvel movies. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Howard is survived by four children, Timothy Hogue of Mt. Olive, Hollie Schehl (Kevin) and Amanda (Justin) Kowalke of Texas, and Dominick Schehl of Florida; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Chris (Sam) Schehl, Edward (Brenda) Schehl, Roy Schehl, and Robert Schehl, all of Mt. Olive, and Andrew (Edith) Schehl of Livingston; three sisters, Lisa (Jim) Tiepleman, Kathy McCoy, Vicki Gage of Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Schehl; and a brother, Scott A. Schehl, Sr.

Visitation will take place on Friday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Services will begin at noon on Saturday, Feb. 12, with Rev. James Ritter officiating. Burial will take place at Chapman Cemetery.
