George and Evelyn (Fones) Swain of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Staunton, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan 1.

Twin sons were born to Kevin May and Kristina Struebig on Nov. 8, 1996, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Margarite E. Dustman (79) of Staunton died Jan. 10 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Staunton.

George Mriscin (81) of Maryville, Ind., formerly of Alhambra, died Jan. 10 at his home.

John R. Morrison (46) of Staunton died Jan. 13 at Community Memorial Hospital.

Edward R. Fleming (76) of Edwardsville, formerly of Staunton, died Jan. 8 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Wilma I. Haenni (69) of Staunton died Jan. 8 at Community Memorial Hospital.

Leola A. Mriscin (75) of Sorento died as a result of a fire in her home on Jan. 11.

The Glenwood assisted living facility announced that they will open in mid-February.

An ID theft ring located in Gillespie was uncovered by police. Two Gillespie residents were arrested, Donna McNatt, 46, and John Maier, 45. A third unnamed person was also involved.

Charges were filed against two Benld residents, Paul D. Lovins, Jr., 24, and William J. Cooper, 44, in the beating death of Mitch Kuhlman of Benld on June 18.
