Eldon Wayne Schmidt, 72, of Worden, Ill., died on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra. He was born June 7, 1949, in Highland, the son of the late George and Alma (Sievers) Schmidt.
Eldon was a retired self-employed farmer. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann (Heine) Schmidt, whom he married on March 26, 1977, in Prairietown. He is also survived by his sister Carol (Paul) Prange of Bridgeton, Mo.; sister-in-law, Lois Schmidt of Carlinville; two brothers-in-law, James (Rose) Heine of St. Louis, Raymond Coatney of Carlinville; and many nieces and nephews. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Coatney and Doris Schmidt; and one brother, Norman Schmidt.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Benjamin Ball officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel.
