The Staunton Senior Citizens meeting of Dec. 16 was called to order by president Gerry Cook. The 28 members in attendance said the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. We all had cake during the meeting in honor of Ruby Hering’s last day of being treasurer. We all would like to thank her for her many services as a member. We also would like to welcome Toni Janus as the new treasurer.
Happy Birthday was sung to the December birthday girls, Nancy Johns, Toni Johns and Gerry Cook. They received a free bingo card along with any member who was wearing anything pertaining to Christmas. There were no card requests. The meeting was adjourned.
Attendance prizes went to Nancy Johns and Judy Hampton. Pot of Silver winners were Elsie Gaurienti and Dorothy Fritz. The donated prizes were won by Toni Janus, Helen Lindsey, Margaret Heinemeyer, Elsie Gaurienti, Adele Kinnikin, Linda Pike, Jo Ann Brakhane, Doris Thomas, and Gaylene Ocepek. Bingo was played and enjoyed by all. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
We will meet again next year on Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. at the St. Paul United Church of Christ located at 225 S. Laurel St. in Staunton. All seniors are invited to join us in the fun.
Secretary, Judy Hampton
