In a safe place, I found a golden treasure. Wrapped in soft velvet, I held in my hands once more my Aunt Eva’s antique watch. It was like sipping red wine, as a feeling of warmth intoxicated my spirit with memories of the past. I turned it over, and carefully ran my fingers across its beautiful casing, for there, embedded in the gold, I knew I would find a tooth print of my little cousin. Opening the watch cover, I saw the wedding pictures of my grandparents, telling me an unending story of human love. This was a gift I now held in my heart.
Long ago, before we felt the sunlight on our shoulder or knew the soft touches of snowflakes on our face, God marked our world of time. It was etched with the baby teeth of his own Son, leaving touches of his presence for us to see and feel, reminding us love is eternal. Inside the casing hangs the image of his suffering and his glory. We only have to open our hearts to know how wonderful the echoes of our inheritance are, given unto to us by the Father in Heaven. Listen and your heart will tell you, "There’s a song in the air! There’s a star in the sky! There’s a mother’s deep prayer and a baby’s low cry! And the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing, for the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!"
Find the love of God in Christ. Pure, gold, hanging from the crossbeams of undying love.
