Congratulations to the Staunton High School scholastic bowl team for their wins at the Southwestern Novice Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 6. Eight schools participated with a total of 12 teams.(Riverton-1, Staunton-2, Southwestern-2, Lincoln- 2, Marquette Catholic- 1, Macomb- 2, Alton- 1 and Brussels- 1).
The Staunton A team was 9 and 0 taking 1st place at the tournament. The Staunton B team was 5 and 3 taking 4th place.
Three players were recognized as All Tournament. Blake Moore was the 2nd All Tournament player earning 655 points for the team, Joseph Siegfried was 3rd All Tournament player earning 635 points; Carson Buffington was 6th All Tournament earning 445 points. Thomas Ogata earned 210 points, Max Eldred earned 195 points; Brady Seelback earned 185; Jonathan Baker earned 110 points and Lily Dothager earned 90. All players were instrumental in the success of the team.
