Staunton Senior Citizens held monthly meeting

President Gerry Cook opened the meeting with leading the 20 members in attendance in the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. The secretary's minutes and the treasurer's report were read and approved. The audit was done last meeting and the report was good.

Under old business, it was decided at the last meeting to discontinue the magic number in bingo. So the money was returned to the members that participated in it. Also the Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner was brought up at the last meeting. Judy Hampton contacted some restaurants that cater, and it was voted on to have R & B’s. The date for the dinner will be Thursday, Dec. 2, starting at 12 noon. If there are any members that were unable to attend this meeting and would like to attend the dinner, please let me know at the next meeting or call me at 618-637-2451. We need to know a count at that time. The cost of the meal will be $5 for members and the Senior Citizens are picking up the balance.

There was no new business.

Attendance prizes went to Bev Williams and Marilyn Willows. Pot of Silver winners were Ruby Hering and Helen Lindsey. Glenwood prizes were won by Cheryl Moore and Gerry Cook. Judy Hampton brought prizes that went to Cheryl Moore, Jo Ann Brakhane, Bev Williams and Dee Masinelli. The prizes that Gerry Cook donated were won by Del Hosto and Jo Ann Brakhane. The meeting was adjourned and all had a good time playing bingo.

The next meeting will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ located at 225 S. Laurel St. in Staunton on Thursday, Nov. 18, starting at 1 p.m. All seniors in the area 55 or older are welcome to join us.

Secretary, Judy Hampton
