    The Staunton High School Bulldogs football team competed in Roxana against Granite City, Alton and Roxana in 7-on-7. An official score wasn't kept, but the Bulldogs heavily competed against much larger schools. Six touchdowns were scored by the Bulldogs with the defense giving up a similar amount.   • Seeking sponsors for Memorial Fun/Run

    Businesses and individuals are invited to participate as a sponsor for the 4th Annual Tori Carroll Memorial 5K/1-Mile Fun Run. This event will be held at Staunton High School on Saturday, Aug. 20. The goal is to raise money for the Staunton Education Foundation. Last year they raised $13,000. July 15th is the deadline to be a race sponsor. The sponsorship fee is $50 which puts your name on the back of the official race T-shirt. It does not buy you a shirt.     Whitney Weller signed on as the latest recruit with Southeast- ern Illinois College in Harris- burg on Wednesday, July 6. She is a 2022 graduate of Staunton High School.   • Flour millers anticipate ample supply of wheat in Illinois

    By Daniel Grant, FarmWeek Flour millers should have an ample supply of quality wheat in the state this season, based on findings of the Southern Illinois Wheat Tour.     Turkey hunters harvested a preliminary statewide total of 13,701 wild turkeys during the 2022 Illinois spring turkey season. This year’s preliminary harvest total compares with the 2021 statewide turkey harvest of 13,613. A total of 81,903 permits were sold this year compared to 83,240 in 2021.
