The Staunton boys' soccer team ended its regular season with two losses this week against SCC opponent Carlinville and former SCC opponent Roxana on Senior Night. The team fought hard in both matches, but found itself on the unlucky side when it needed the ball to bounce their way. Vandalia continued their path to the playoffs Friday night by winning their Homecoming game vs. Staunton 48-12. The Bulldogs were the first to score with just under 8 minutes left in the first quarter. Cody Ury completed a pass to Braden Buffington good for 18 yards and a Bulldog TD. The Staunton girls volleyball team traveled to Carlinville Thursday, Sept. 29, and defeated the Lady Cavaliers in two sets of 25-21. The boys and girls South Central Conference golf tournament was held at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore on Monday, Sept. 26. There were 10 boys teams participating in the tournament and six girls teams. The Litchfield boys golf team took first place with 315 strokes on 18 holes. It was a wonderful fall day for golfing on Thursday. Low gross was the team of Kathryn Young, Karen Crosslin and Linda Rowe. They also had low putts. The Staunton Lions Club annual Halloween parade will return on Sunday, Oct. 30, after a two-year hiatus. Parade participants should start meeting behind the library at 5:30 p.m. The parade starts promptly at 6 p.m., walking down Main Street to Laurel to Henry to the VFW for free hot dogs, chips and a drink for all participants.
