    It may have ended much sooner than hoped for - but the Lady Bulldogs gave the local volleyball fans a year that any team could be proud of and one that fans will not soon forget. Staunton opened their post season play at the Hillsboro Regional on Tuesday, Oct. 25,when they defeated the Lady Hiltoppers in two sets, 25-16 and 25-13.     The Staunton Bulldog football team traveled to North Mac for their final game of the season on Friday Oct. 21. The North Mac Panthers won this game 32 - 6. There was no scoring in the first quarter. However, in the opening minute of the 2nd period, North Mac scored an 8-yard rushing TD and added the PAT to take the 7-0 lead.     The Staunton High School volleyball team brought their season record up to 23-6 and 7-0 in conference, clinching another SCC title with their win over Litchfield Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Panthers in two sets, 25-7 and 25-17.     The SHS cross country team season ended sooner than they were hoping for at the ISHA Class 1A Cross Country Regional meet at Wesclin High School on Saturday, Oct. 22. The men's team placed 10th and the women's team placed 11th. The two senior runners, Troy Albertino and Lexi Pfeiffer, finished their high school cross country careers as the lead runners on their respective teams.     The Staunton boys' soccer team took advantage of its favorable draw in the IHSA playoffs with two wins over the Metro-East Lutheran Knights and the Lebanon Greyhounds. The wins meant that the team would play for the regional title for just the second time in the team's history.     The Staunton Bulldog football team broke into the win column when they traveled to Gillespie on Friday, Oct. 14 and defeated the Miners 27 - 12.     Thursday was the last day of our regular golf season. It was a beautiful day and all the girls did very well. The low gross was the team of Kathryn Young, Gloria Paolino and Linda Rowe. The low net was the team of Karen Crosslin and Rosemarie Pickerill. Karen and Rosemarie also had two chip-ins, a birdie and the low putts.
