    Tom Emery|Nov 30, 2022

It was called the “Great War” and the “war to end all wars.” Unfortunately for mankind, there were even greater, and more deadly, wars to come. We've all had dreams and goals in our younger years that seemed essential to our happiness, yet, for many of those dreams, we just never quite achieved them. While there’s no magic way to make all your dreams come true, you can take action to get closer to your life’s goals and lessen those feelings of frustration. Start by putting the past behind you. • The 11th hour

    Nov 10, 2022

by Joseph Reagan The 11th hour has become synonymous with Veterans Day, originally called Armistice day, in recognition of the document signed at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month. In reality, the Armistice ending the war to end all wars was signed around 5 a.m. on Nov. 11. Over the course of the next six hours, nearly 3,000 men would lose their lives in the final hours of a war that had already claimed the lives of 20 million military personnel. • War of the Worlds rocked radio listeners

    Tom Emery|Nov 2, 2022

A seemingly innocent fictional radio broadcast caused panic in the streets in 1938. Sunday, Oct. 30, marked the anniversary of the national radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds, which was misunderstood by many listeners as an actual attack on Earth by Martians. An estimated 9 to 12 million Americans were frightened by the broadcast. The broadcast on CBS Radio was a dramatic interpretation of the 1898 novel of the same name by British author H.G. Wells. In an era before television, radio was a prime form of entertainment, and millions of...
