    A brief memorial and burial service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton for John "Jack" M. Mahota (1938-2011) and his wife Mary "Mary Kay" C. Mahota (1938-2015) on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 1 p.m. The service will be presided over by the Rev. Thomas Hagstrom, V.F. of Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic church.     Richard A. Sturgill, 87, of Livingston, Ill., died at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, on Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was born May 22, 1936, in Equality, the son of the late Arzie and Mildred (Lassater) Sturgill. He married Karen J. Turner on April 14, 1974, in Alton, and she survives. He was the owner and manager of Poor Boy Portable Buildings at Rt. 140 and Rt. 4 junction for 28 years, retiring in 2018. Melanie was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching her TV programs, playing with the grand-dogs and visiting with her family.     Dennis G. Nowell, 72, formerly of Mt. Olive Ill., died peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in St. Louis, Mo. He was born in Portageville, Mo., on Oct. 24, 1950, the son of Thomas and Roberta (DeRousse) Nowell. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Knes, in Mt. He was born June 20, 1948, in Litchfield, the son of the late Charles F. and Vera (Gerdes) Sievers.
