Staunton's Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) classes will start June 10 and run until Aug. 14, every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Staunton's Area Ambulance is located at 401 Ash St. in Staunton. This summer Zion Lutheran School in Staunton will host Summer With A Purpose (SWAP) camps. Zion offers both fun and educational camps to children entering Kindergarten through age 11. Camps are held Monday-Thursday from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. throughout the summer and are taught by Zion’s certified teaching staff. The community of Staunton has received, and hopefully will continue to receive, a love of very good publicity thanks to an annual Tour de Donut bicycle race. But an event such as this does not run automatically by itself – it needs the very real support of local volunteers. Past races have drawn over 1,000 participants. Strawberry picking started about two weeks early in Belleville, said Chris Eckert, president and CEO of Eckert’s family farm. “People are coming out. We are pleased with the amount of traffic,” he said of customers’ interest in the crop.
