Overview of 1970-1979 The 1970s saw the introduction of three sports programs for females at Staunton High School. Though the Girls Athletic Association (GAA) had been in existence for many years, the first official sport offered to females at the school was track in 1972-73. On Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:29 p.m., the Macoupin County Dispatch Center (MAC911) received a call from a juvenile in distress. Two juveniles were driving on Lake Ka-Ho Road over Cahokia Creek in rural Macoupin County when the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu they were in was swept off the road by fast moving flood waters. This summer Zion Lutheran School in Staunton will host Summer With A Purpose (SWAP) camps. Zion offers both fun and educational camps to children entering Kindergarten through age 11. Camps are held Monday-Thursday from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. throughout the summer and are taught by Zion’s certified teaching staff.
