The Citizen of the Year recipient for 2021 was announced Friday night at the tree-lighting celebration. Bud and Sue Gilliam were the winners of this honor. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 42,559 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 182 additional deaths since Nov. 26. On Saturday, Nov. 27, the Bunker Hill area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts delivered 4,125 food items to the Bunker Hill Food Pantry, located in the annex of the United Methodist Church, at 501 E. Warren St. The following Wednesday, the pantry received donations from the Bunker Hill Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation followed by the Kiwanis Bunker Hill schools collection. Scouting for Food was a massive success this year for the Staunton Boy Scouts. They thank everyone who helped during the event. The Scouting for Food event exceeded its goal of 7,000 items.
