    The planning that started months ago along with all the follow-up work to make it happen comes together this Friday, Dec. 3. The tree lighting events in Staunton are officially open from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Businesses are being asked to stay open Friday evening until after the tree lighting and perhaps offer sale items and/or a treat for shoppers.     Get in the holiday spirit this year with the Grinch 5k and 1-mile Fun Walk for Staunton High School Post Prom on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 8 a.m. The race starts on Main Street in front of Rooster’s Pub.     This week's Looking Back photo is the Livingston School built in 1907 and later enlarged in 1912. Problems with overcrowding in 1916 and 1917 caused the school to operate on half days.
