The ISP is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened early Sunday evening on Nov. 19. According to a statement from the ISP, they were called to the parking lot of the Carlinville Area Hospital at around 6:15 p.m. to assist in the investigation after a Carlinville Police Officer shot a suspect allegedly driving a stolen vehicle. Dennis James Bloemker, 72, of Mt. Olive, Ill., died on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 24, 1951, in Staunton, to Elton and Alma Bloemker. Dennis married Gail (Guiliani) Grejtak on Sept. 25, 1998. They were married 25 years, and she survives. He attended Staunton High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. He married Judy Weidler on March 24,1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive. She preceded him in death. The Staunton Chamber of Commerce along with the City of Staunton is proud to present the 2023 edition of the “Staunton Seasonal Spectacular.” Beginning the festivities on Saturday Nov. 25, at 5 p.m. there will be the official lighting of Duda Park. The Elbon Shrine Club is very grateful for the support of the local communities. Again, this year the paper drive was a success collecting just over $1,200. A Celebrity Bartender fundraiser held at Mr. T’s was also a huge success bringing in nearly $6,000 and a donation at the meeting rounded it off to just that $6,000.
