    Even the flag in the back was at full-attention on Saturday, Nov. 11, for the Memorial Service that was held in front of Staunton's Veterans Memorial, located on Main Street. It was a sunny but brisk day. The Staunton Chamber of Commerce along with the City of Staunton is proud to present the 2023 edition of the “Staunton Seasonal Spectacular.” Beginning our festivities on Saturday Nov. 25, at 5 p.m. there will be the official lighting of Duda Park.     Roy Louis Monke, 95, died on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, in Mt. Olive, Ill. He was born on Aug. 9, 1928, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, the fourth child of Adolph and Alma (Niemann) Monke. On Sept. 7, 1952, Roy married Dolores Droste of Mt. Olive. Roy and Dolores enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Dolores preceded him in death.
