Tom Spears, President of Concordia Hall, approached Mayor Craig Neuhaus about starting a Queen of Hearts drawing at Concordia Hall with 10% of the net profit going towards the city parks. With those assets, Concordia Hall has donated a Megasiam 60 professional basketball system that will be erected at The Fireman’s Park this spring. A driver was air-lifted after a horrific crash on Interstate 55 in Macoupin County, on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 1. The Illinois State Police were called to an accident on I-55 northbound south of Staunton Road because there had been a report of an incident. November 7 marked the anniversary of the murder of Lovejoy, a newspaper publisher and vocal opponent of slavery, in Alton in 1837. The tragedy became a flashpoint for the slavery debate in Illinois.
