    Starmites Lite was the spring musical production this year performed by members of the high school and junior high school choirs. The plot has Eleanor dreaming her way into a comic book adventure in Innerspace, where she saves the galaxy in this zingy rock musical. It is Eleanor, Spacepunk, the Starmites and the lizard man against the evil Banshees led by Diva and Shak Graa. The play is a nod to fun loving comic book fans.     During the Staunton Board of Education Meeting held on Monday, March 21, the board adopted a Resolution Authorizing Non-Reemployment of Full-Time, Non-Tenured Administrator. SHS Principal Dr. Vince Hughes will not be completing his last year of probationary service during the 2021-2022 school year and will not be reemployed for the 2022-2023 school term.     During the Staunton City Council meeting on Monday night, resignation letters were accepted from Christopher Barnes and Drew Sloan as part-time police officers for the city. Sloan commented that his full-time job with the sheriff's office is now requiring a lot of overtime hours that doesn't allow him to serve at Staunton.     An Illinois Lottery player from Benld is $800,000 richer after winning the Lucky Day Lotto grand prize in the Monday, March 21, midday drawing.   • Voters now have choice to automatically receive a mail ballot each election

    Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan recently announced that the state had approved giving voters the choice of receiving a mail ballot each election without applying each time. Voters wanting to be placed on the permanent vote by mail list are required to apply for that list. Once they apply, they will remain on the list and have a ballot mailed to them each election going forward.     Child Abuse Prevention Month has been observed each April since its first presidential proclamation in 1983.     SHS seniors pursuing careers in either the medical or engineering fields are invited to apply for one of two possible Academic Merit Scholarships for an amount up to $3,000 but no less than $500. Seniors planning to attend an accredited technology/vocational school or program are invited to apply for the Technology Scholarship for an amount up to $1,000 but no less than $500.
