On Thursday, Oct. 20, the second meeting of the month was called to order by President Gerry Cook with 29 members present. Zion Lutheran youth group will be sponsoring a Christmas Trivia Night with dessert auction on Friday, Nov. 11, at Concordia Hall in Staunton. The doors open at 6 p.m., and trivia starts at 7 p.m. Get your friends and family together, gather up your favorite snacks, and get ready for a fun evening of Christmas-themed trivia. Teams of six to eight people may enter. The entry fee is $15 per person, which includes admission and unlimited soft drinks and bottled water. Trinity Lutheran Church in Worden will host their 72nd annual sausage supper on Sunday, Oct. 30. Serving begins at noon inside the parish hall in Worden and continues until 6 p.m. This year you have the choice of dining in the parish hall or taking carry-outs home with you. All dinners are $12. The family of Terry Mosser donated over $1,000 to the Staunton schools choir department in memory of Terry, who was a long serving accompanist for the school district. As most Shrine bodies Elbon Shrine Club is suffering from lack of membership and change in leadership. At the club’s highest point around 2014, they had approximately 40 members. They currently have about 15 who have paid dues for 2022. They have had the same leadership team in charge for approximately six years. That team as well as past leadership teams have done a great job keeping things moving and raising money. The Staunton Bulldog football team traveled to North Mac for their final game of the season on Friday Oct. 21. The North Mac Panthers won this game 32 - 6. There was no scoring in the first quarter. However, in the opening minute of the 2nd period, North Mac scored an 8-yard rushing TD and added the PAT to take the 7-0 lead. The Staunton High School volleyball team brought their season record up to 23-6 and 7-0 in conference, clinching another SCC title with their win over Litchfield Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Panthers in two sets, 25-7 and 25-17. The SHS cross country team season ended sooner than they were hoping for at the ISHA Class 1A Cross Country Regional meet at Wesclin High School on Saturday, Oct. 22. The men's team placed 10th and the women's team placed 11th. The two senior runners, Troy Albertino and Lexi Pfeiffer, finished their high school cross country careers as the lead runners on their respective teams. The Staunton VFW Post 1241 will be holding a fish fry on the first and third Friday of every month beginning Nov. 4 and continuing until Lent. During Lent, the fish fries will be held every Friday.
