The Staunton/BH Bulldogs lost their final game of the season Friday, Oct. 20, when Pana came to Staunton and outscored the Bulldogs 19 - 13. The Staunton Lion's Club Halloween Parade will begin Monday, Oct. 30. Everyone will meet at the Staunton Band Shelter behind the Library on Pearl Street at 5:40 p.m. Lining up for the parade will begin at 5:50 p.m. on Wood Street and the parade will start at 6 p.m. Coverage goes from Main Street, to Laurel Street, Henry Street, and ends at the Staunton VFW for Halloween Snack from the Staunton Lions and the Staunton VFW. Karon L. Ismari, 81, of rural Worden, Ill., died at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023. She was born on Aug. 17, 1942, in Staunton, Ill., to Vincent and Laura Cailotto Jacobs. She married Norman Ismari on Oct. 7, 1960, in Carlinville, and he survives. Arthur H. Yarnik Jr., 89, of Staunton, Ill., died at Anderson Hospital in Maryville on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023. He was born on Nov. 25, 1933, in Staunton, the son of the late Arthur Yarnik Sr. and Margaret Cailotto Yarnik. He married Norma J. Pervinsek on June 2, 1956, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2017. A reminder to local residents that yard waste burn days changed on Oct. 15. From Oct. 15 through Dec. 15, residents are allowed to burn every day, however, this is strictly for yard waste only, no household trash. For the other ten months of the year, yard waste burn days are on Friday, Saturday and Monday. The City of Staunton also operates a yard waste site out on LPT Road.
