The fourth-grade class of Zion School of Staunton created a club because they love God. They named the club the Pass on Jesus Club! They created a logo and decided their first project was to create bags for the Police Station of Staunton to give to homeless people in our area. Gold Star Mission has their Annual Gold Star 500 Bike ride scheduled for Sept. 19 – 23, 2023. Their registration and orientation for the riders and support teams will be at VFW Post 10302 on Sep 18, 2023. The riders will depart from Scheels in Springfield, IL and travel through Districts 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17 before they return to Springfield VFW Post 10302 on Sept. 23, 2023. The Gillespie Minor Soccer Association and the Coal Country Sports Complex Foundation have planned their 17th annual Trivia Night and Silent Auction to be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Benld Civic Center. We had a great day for golfing. The course was in wonderful shape. The golfing was not what it usually is; not very good for any of us. The low net was the team of Karen Crosslin and Rosemarie Pickerill with a 45. Two teams tied for low net. They were Kim Meyer and Barb Augustine, Linda Best and Martha Riley (29). The boys finished strong with three wins tonight over Rochester, Lincolnwood and Gillespie.
