Patricia J. Isaacs, 89, of Staunton, Ill., died on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, at her residence. She was born on Nov. 12, 1933, in Livingston, the daughter of Clarence “Peggy” Meyer and Sophie “Sally” (Krakowiecki) Meyer. She married Lawrence G. Isaacs on July 3, 1979, in Edwardsville. Lawrence preceded Pat in death on Feb. 1, 1999. Pat’s first job was pedaling newspapers around her hometown. John A. Kirkwood, 67, of Benld, Ill., died at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023. He was born July 26, 1956, in Belleville, to Martin Kirkwood and Jean Burns Kirkwood. John Raymond Wolff, 78, of rural Litchfield, Ill., died on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, at his residence. He was born March 3, 1945, in Litchfield, to Norman Wolff and Darlene O. Modlin Wolff. He married Ruth Grosenheider on March 19, 1966, in Litchfield. She survives. He was a lifelong farmer. LaVerne B. Bloemker, 81, of Hamel, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at her home. She was born on Friday, Sept. 26, 1941, in Alhambra, the daughter of Melvin “Buddy” and Clara (Suhre) Greear. On Sept. 16 (during the Flea Market) Pastor Debbie will be offering pet blessings from 9 to 10 a.m. for anyone interested. Dogs must be leashed and cats in carriers. More and more families continue to receive resources at the Staunton Helping Hands Center. Service numbers are increasing and pantry operations remain solid. The SHHC received two grants: Phillips 66 for $2,570.25 (through donation hours by retired employee, Robert Semanik,) and from the Selma J. Hartke Foundation for $2,000.
