  • Memorial Fun Run is this Saturday

    The Annual Tori Carroll Memorial 5K/1 Mile Fun Run will be held this Saturday Aug. 20, starting at 8 a.m. The event will take place at Staunton High School. This annual Fun/Run is a fundraiser to benefit Staunton Community Unit School District #6 in Tori Carroll's name. Race organizers are hoping to beat last year’s total of $13,000.     In the Staunton County Club Ladies Golf League, the team of Cynthia Albrecht Tipler, Barb Augustine and Martha Riley had a great game Thursday. They had low gross score, tied for low putts and also had a chip on #6. Deb McNaughton, Gloria Paolino and Rosemarie Pickerill had the low net score. Team of Denise Hemphill, Linda Rohe and Kathryn Young tied for low putts and also had a team birdie on #3.     The Staunton High School boys golf team won their first match of the season defeating Mt. Olive 162-232. Preston Denney was the match medalist with his round of 37 on the par 36 course. Coming in second lowest for the Bulldogs was Broc Best with his 38. Other Staunton team scores were Luke DeWitt 42 and Adam Overby 45. Blaine Dickerson was the team medalist for Mt. Olive with a 42.
