On Sunday, Aug. 7, at approximately 4:40 a.m., the Madison County sheriff's office received a 911 call of a disturbance occurring at a residence in the 2200 block of Miracle Avenue in Granite City. The event that everyone has been looking forward to will finally happen this Saturday, Aug. 20, when the Balloon Glow opens at 900 Montgomery Street in Staunton. Join your friends and neighbors at 4 p.m. to enjoy the Balloon Glow which becomes even more impressive as the evening sky darkens. Karen Heyen, 86, of Dorchester, Ill., died at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022. She was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Carlinville, to Fieldor and Mary Catherine Murray Orr. Mary Elizabeth Kuruc, 85, of Gillespie, Ill., died at Heritage Health of Gillespie on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022. She was born April 2, 1937, to William and Clara Pettit Keith. Ronald R. Jackson, 64, died July 23, 2022. Born Oct.. 13, 1958, he was a son of the late Raymond and Irene Jackson of Williamson. He was a graduate of Livingston High School.
