Due to the incident that occurred over the weekend in downtown Litchfield with a building collapse in the 300 block of North State Street, the Pickers Market scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 14, has been cancelled. The Staunton Helping Hands Center was awardaed the Diocesan Campaign for Justice and Hope (DCJH) Grant. This grant has been a consistent source of support for many years at the SHHC. The Staunton/Bunker Hill Football Bulldogs have been busy preparing for their upcoming 2022 season. The first game of the year will be on Friday, Aug. 26, at home vs. the Southwestern Piasa Birds. The Staunton Country Club Ladies Golf League had some decent golfing on Thursday even though it had rained and was hot and humid. The low scores were a tie between the teams of Cynthia Tipler and Kathryn Young and Karen Crosslin and Rosemarie Pickerill. Cynthia and Kathryn had low putts and Cynthia had her own birdie on #9. Beginning this week, Illinois American Water’s Metro East water system will undergo an annual temporary treatment change. Work will also include the flushing of water mains and fire hydrants. The Annual Tori Carroll Memorial 5K/1 Mile Fun Run will be held on Saturday Aug. 20, starting at 8 a.m. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Staunton High School.
