Macoupin County Public Health Department is hosting Heartsaver and BLS CPR Certification Classes. Everyone is welcome and these classes are open to the public. With the Presidential Election just under four months away now, later this summer, state law requires the Election Office mail all registered voters a voting plan postcard. But Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan says that voters have options on receiving one. State law requires all voters not on the permanent vote by mail list to be mailed a postcard application to join the list if they desire to do so. The Staunton Fire Protection District takes the responsibility of providing fire and rescue services to area residents very seriously. The most important element needed to provide quality fire and rescue services is dedicated volunteer firefighters. Mia Rhodes is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner who was raised in Staunton by her parents, Don and Patty Stefani. She attended Staunton High School and graduated with the class of 2012. The Staunton Helping Hands Center is thankful for the donations and support from the community. The SHHC continues to keep stable inventory and volunteers, making it possible to serve anyone in the community with food insecurity. It was a hot and humid day but the SCC women's golf league were all glad to get together after missing golf the week before. The low gross was the team of Rosemarie Pickerill and Linda Rohe. The Staunton High School will have their parent/player meetings on Aug. 1 and Aug. 8 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. On Saturday, Aug. 3, at Dorchester's Homecoming celebration, a 50-year old Kittenball reunion will take place at 5:15 p.m. The following 16 teams are welcome to participate: Heyen's; Staunton Hi-Robo; Area Merchants; Livingston Pies; Quality Motors; New Douglas; and the rest of the 10 teams. Overview 1980-1989 The 1980s witnessed the emergence of basketball (boys) and volleyball (girls) as the marquee sports programs at Staunton High School.
