  • Murder suspect arrested in Gillespie for stealing bicycle

    Deundrea S. Holloway, age 22, who lives in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street in Litchfield, was arrested in Gillespie on Thursday, June 9. Police found Holloway riding a stolen bicycle and took him in for questioning, but he was combative and uncooperative. He was arrested for theft and taken to the Macoupin County Jail. Police later found out that he was a suspect in a murder in Alton. The decapitated body of Liese Dodd, age 22, of Alton was discovered by her mother on the afternoon of June 9.     A clemency hearing for Robert Turner has been delayed due to the fact that the victim's family was never notified by the Illinois Prison Review Board. Robert Turner's hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, but has now been postponed with no new date scheduled at this time. Turner was convicted of the rape and murder of 16-year-old Bridget Drobney of Downers Grove.     The American Legion Auxiliary has named Cassidy Eyman of Livingston as their Junior Member Scholarship winner. Cassidy will receive the scholarship at the American Legion Auxiliary department convention to be held July 16 in Springfield.     Last week the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) released the first-of-its-kind statewide assessment of problem gambling in Illinois.
