Girl Scout Service Unit 107 began their Twilight Camp at Camp Hugh on Memorial Day. The girls spent the first night of Twilight Camp decorating flower pots and planting butterfly attracting flowers thanks to the generous $750 donation from the H.E.I.D.I. Association. On Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:29 p.m., the Macoupin County Dispatch Center (MAC911) received a call from a juvenile in distress. Two juveniles were driving on Lake Ka-Ho Road over Cahokia Creek in rural Macoupin County when the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu they were in was swept off the road by fast moving flood waters. The occupied vehicle was washed downstream approximately 450 feet into the outside of the tree line along the east bank where the car became submerged. This summer Zion Lutheran School in Staunton will host Summer With A Purpose (SWAP) camps. Zion offers both fun and educational camps to children entering Kindergarten through age 11. Camps are held Monday-Thursday from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. throughout the summer and are taught by Zion’s certified teaching staff. Attention Staunton Families: The School District will be offering meals as part of the Summer Food Service Program. Meals are available to anyone 18 years old and under.
