    The Macoupin County Historical Society, the Macoupin Agricultural Antique Association and the Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association invite you to their annual Spring Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5, at 920 W. Breckenridge Sreet in Carlinville.     A while back, while spending time with our Layla, who was 7 years old at the time, she had a minor accident. It came about from her restless searching for a place to land and this time she chose to drape herself over my piano bench. The problem came when she fell asleep in that canopy position.   • Bunker Hill Food Pantry has served residents since 1987

    The Bunker Hill Food Pantry located at 501 East Warren St., began operation in 1987 after founder Margaret Gerdt, successfully opened it. Lester Lawton, who took over managing the Pantry later said of her, "It was hard work for her.     With the weather warming up, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is warning the public to beware of rabid animals, especially bats, as they become more active this time of year.     University of Illinois Extension will be offering the state mandated Certified Food Protection Managers class and exam. The Illinois Department of Public Health Food Sanitation Code (section 750.540) requires food service establishments to be under the operational supervision of a certified food protection manager during hours of operation.     The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) will continue to enforce emergency rules prohibiting the sale or exhibiting of poultry and poultry products at swap meets, exhibitions, flea markets, and auction markets in Illinois to prevent the spread of avian influenza.     Turkey hunters harvested a preliminary statewide total of 13,701 wild turkeys during the 2022 Illinois spring turkey season. This year’s preliminary harvest total compares with the 2021 statewide turkey harvest of 13,613. A total of 81,903 permits were sold this year compared to 83,240 in 2021.
