The Staunton Relays (Men and Women) were held Thursday, April 28th, with 6 schools participating. Mens Division - Varsity - North Mac won first with 132 team points followed by Staunton 92, Southwestern 75, Althoff Catholic 73, Marquette 28 and SIUE Charter 4. The Staunton men's and women's track teams competed at the Murphysboro Coed Open on Monday, April 25. It was a large event with schools much larger than Staunton competing, but it provided valuable experience for the Staunton teams. Men's Division Murphysboro dominated both divisions winning the mens division with 125 team points followed by Carterville 108, Bluford (Webber) 58, McLeansboro 51 and Staunton 45. The Wednesday Ladies Golf League is now the Thursday Ladies Golf League. The first week of golf it rained; however, they had a meeting with refreshments and discussed business. They voted to start golfing on Thursday with the permission of the SCC board. They also have some projects in planning. The Staunton High School Prom and Post Prom is the highlight of the year for the juniors and seniors of SHS and their guests. The Crystal Ballroom was the scene for the formal dance. Post prom was held at Staunton High School and allowed the students to let their hair down and enjoy great food, games and activities and the chance to win some really great prizes. The Lewis and Clark State Historic Site will celebrate the 218th anniversary of the start of the Lewis and Clark Expedition with the Point of Departure Celebration on May 7 and 8. Visitors will have an opportunity to interact with military demonstrations, historic artisans and more at this free event. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The Illinois Department of Transportation announces intermittent lane closures of IL 157 between IL 140 in Hamel and IL 143 near Edwardsville beginning on Monday, May 2, weather permitting. The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that I-64 between IL 159 to IL 4 in St. Clair County will be intermittently restricted to one lane in each direction beginning Sunday, May 1, weather permitting.
