By: Jill Pertler The birds outside my bedroom window go crazy every morning. I love it. They wake up – sometimes one by one, other times as groups - all with something to say, something to contribute. Perhaps they are calling out to friends or family; perhaps they are marking their territory or chasing squirrels from their nest; perhaps they simply like to hear themselves sing. It doesn’t matter to me. I just like the music – and or – noise they make. Because when they all chirp and tweet and whistle and trill and screech and caw and and hoo...

* A great idea for mini ice packs: Freeze ketchup packets you get from takeout food. They are great for icing small bumps or bug bites. * Spread a teaspoon of peanut butter thinly on a paper plate. Then when the dog is busy with its treat, you can trim its nails. Or sometimes just having it nearby as a promised treat can do the trick to distract your pet. Good luck! * "One of the things I do each spring (and fall) is to go through my makeup and toss the old items. I also restock my first-aid kit and get new bottles of sunscreen and bug spray...
Illinois’ Cottage Food Law allows food entrepreneurs, local producers, and home cooks to sell non-potentially hazardous homemade foods and drinks to the public. Demand for locally produced food and a growing cottage food industry has spawned statewide conversations around food entrepreneurism, resulting in the Home-to-Market Act, a set of legislative updates to the Cottage Food Law. The amendment, which went i...

Walk softly this week, my friends, for we are now standing on holy ground. As we remember the movement of Jesus with the Passion ahead of him, the beautiful high priestly prayer, the tender and incredible love for those journeying beside him and the dark night of the soul, our hearts surely pause to stay in the shadows where all heaven and hell do battle for us with redeeming love. I will not forget. O Lord, I will not forget, and those who enter the city with the dying palms remember, too. Thanks be to God evermore. Happy Easter! Rev....
