    By Kelly Costa During Monday night’s city council meeting, John Fassero from the Heritage Community Band spoke briefly to the council about this year’s concert season. The first concert of the season will be over Memorial Day weekend, and there will be five concerts this year. Also, this is the Heritage Community Band’s 159th consecutive concert season.   • Lions Club egg hunt is Saturday

    After two years of not being able to host the annual Easter egg hunt/Easter basket raffle, the Staunton Lions Club is back in action. The Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 16, at the Staunton Fireman's Park. It starts promptly at 11 a.m. and is open to the public and free of charge. Don't be late or you'll miss all the action. Have your little hunters bring their Easter baskets for collecting the eggs and other goodies.     The Livingston Park Association welcomes children to bring their empty baskets to be filled at their 30th annual Easter egg hunt. This event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Veterans Memorial Park in Livingston. (Please note this will take place on a different day on the weekend than previous hunts.)     Two women from St. Louis, Mo., died Friday in a wrong-way head-on crash on northbound I-55 at milepost 37 near Liv- ingston, Ill. The fatal crash happened at 4:06 a.m. on April 9 and involved a 2020 Gray Toyota Camry and a 2021 International truck-tractor semi-trailer. The Toyota was driven by Juandria Pickett, age 30, and she had one passenger, Tiyana McCoy, age 22.   • Illinois State Fire Marshal awards equipment grants

    The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal announced last week the recipients of the 2022 Small Equipment Grant Program. A total of $2.5 mil- lion was awarded to 104 fire departments/districts and EMS providers across the state. The program was established to provide grants of up to $26,000 each for the purchase of small firefighting and ambulance equipment.     The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) is reminding taxpayers that the upcoming deadline for filing 2021 state individual income tax returns is Monday, April 18.
