    James "Jim" DeVries, 60, of Staunton, Ill., died at Community Hospital of Staunton on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. He was born July 8, 1961, in Staunton, the son of the late Lawrence and Melba (Hartke) DeVries. He married Judy Brunnworth on Aug. 8, 1984, and she survives. Jim worked as a farm operations manager at Sievers Equipment in Hamel for over 40 years, and ran his family farm. Jim was a proud farmer and loved old tractors.     Genevieve C Shuey, 96, of Gillespie, Ill., died at Heritage Health of Gillespie, on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. She was born April 2, 1925, in Gillespie, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Ross) Dunn. She married Donald R. Shuey on Jan. 15, 1949, in Gillespie. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2004. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Gerald) Brand of Litchfield; sons, Donald (Debbie) Shuey of Mt.     The Staunton Lady Bulldogs were on the road Dec. 27-30 for the Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School Winterfest Tournament and ended the trip by bringing home the championship trophy. They won the first game Dec. 27 with a score of 48-14. On Dec. 28 they defeated Dupo 64-37.     The Staunton High School boys basketball team competed in the Carlinville Holiday Tournament last week. On opening day, Monday, Dec. 27, the Bulldogs lost the East Alton/Wood River Oilers 57-50. Following their afternoon game on Monday, the Bulldogs returned to Carlinville on Tuesday, Dec. 28, for a 7:30 p.m. game vs Hillsboro. The Hiltoppers won this game 51-40.
